PlanDwell

PlanDwell was established in 2008 as a part time business. providing mainly drawing and design work for small construction projects. In 2023, this then became a full time undertaking, with the services of the business expanding to also include property surveys, project management and latterly drone surveys.

The ethos of PlanDwell is to provide quality service for a reasonable cost and all feedback received to date has been 5*, with glowing responses and recommendations.

All surveys are undertaken as soon as practicably possible, following appointment, with reports provided withing 3-5 days of the inspection. The report is detailed and written in plain English, with a clear explanation of each defect found and how and when it is recommended to be rectified. Comments are provided regarding the services installations, along with photographs, valuations and property risk factors all included as standard with no additional fee, along with any additional advice that can be ascertained, including potential development of the property.  

All designs and drawings include a measured survey of the entire property and, along with existing and proposed plans, includes sectional drawings with detailed building regulation information for obtaining quotations from prospective builders. The initial proposed information is provided promptly within a week of the measured survey being undertaken. This service also includes making planning applications on behalf of clients, where required, along with all other heritage, ecological or flood risk documentation as may be necessary, and discussing the proposals with the planners where the scheme may prove to potentially be contentious.

Martin Cheesman

Martin believes passionately in treating other people as he would want to be treated. As such, in all that he does, he wants to help clients achieve their requirements for a reasonable cost to them.

Martin has a long and successful track record in the construction industry, having trained as a plasterer and general builder before becoming a degree qualified building surveyor and project manager, with a full membership of the Association of Project Managers. This overall experience has given him a hands on knowledge and expertise of construction alongside the necessary theory, which is invaluable for the services provided.

Having initially been employed with a small building surveying company, heading up their architectural department, Martin has worked in construction related undertakings for healthcare, government, education, consulting, heritage and residential developments, from provision of outline drawings and property condition surveys to being principal project manager on schemes with varying complexities, ranging from less than £1 m to over £40 m in value.

He has a wealth of experience in construction, along with an ability to communicate complex and technical matters in ways that a layman can understand.

In all that he does, his aim is to treat people fairly and with respect.
